Treffen Maria, Josef und Jesus denn in Ägypten auf mehrere Personen aus A, mehrere Personen aus C, und mehrere Personen aus D? Kann also davon ausgegangen werden, dass alle möglichen Wege von A, C und D aus zu römischen Wachposten führen? Oder treffen sie nur jeweils auf eine Familie/Gruppe aus den genannten Städten, und diese Gruppen waren allesamt mit Pech behaftet?

Sie treffen jeweils nur auf eine andere Reisegruppe...

Eine schöne Aufgabe, die "überschaubar" war. Die Reise nach Ägypten hat auch ihren Reiz nicht nur die "Reise nach Jerusalem" (natürlich mit 42 Stühlen und 43 Personen).

I'm confused about the problem statement in the English version of The Road from Bethlehem

My Question:
The English text uses both "Mary" and "Maria":

1st paragraph: "he, his wife Mary and the baby Jesus must flee"
2nd paragraph: "Maria and Joseph start in Bethlehem (B on the map)"
5th paragraph: "Joseph and Mary arrive safely in Egypt"

Are Mary and Maria the same person (just translation variation), or are they two different people?

If they're different people:

• Does Maria start from B but encounter checkpoints?
  
• Does Mary start from somewhere else and reach Egypt safely?
  
• Or if they're the same person, is this just a translation inconsistency and I should treat them as one couple starting from B who reaches Egypt safely?
  

I want to make sure I'm understanding the problem correctly before attempting to solve it. Can someone clarify?

I‘m sorry for the confusion. This is indeed a typo and it should have been just Mary. I‘ve fixed it now.
